An indoor teepee tent gives kids a space that feels like their own – a reading nook, a hideout, a quiet corner after a busy day. Here is how to plan one that fits your home.
How much space do you need?
Our teepee’s base is 120 × 120 cm and it stands 160 cm tall. Allow a little extra room around it so kids can get in and out easily – roughly a 1.5 m × 1.5 m area works well. Because a teepee narrows towards the top, it tucks neatly into a corner.
Best places to put an indoor teepee
- Bedroom corner: a calm place for bedtime stories under the star lights.
- Playroom: the centre of pretend play – a castle, a camp site, a rocket.
- Living room: a weekend “camp-out” spot that packs away into its bag on Monday.
- Daycare or classroom: a quiet, calm-down corner where one or two children can rest and reset.

Reading-nook ideas
Use the side pockets for a few favourite books, add a cushion or two on the fluffy mat, and switch on the star lights for a soft glow. A small basket of books just outside the door keeps the inside uncluttered.
Safety tips for indoor teepees
- Set it up on a flat floor, away from heaters, lamps and radiators.
- Keep the fairy-light cord and battery box out of reach of toddlers and turn the lights off when no adult is around.
- Don’t hang heavy items from the poles.
- Supervise younger children; our tent is recommended for ages 3–8.
Indoor vs outdoor
A cotton play teepee is designed for indoor use. It can come out to the backyard on a dry day, but bring it in before dew or rain and never leave it outside overnight.

Frequently asked questions
Can kids sleep in an indoor teepee tent?
Many kids love napping or having a sleepover in their teepee. Turn the fairy lights off before sleep and supervise younger children.
Will a teepee fit in a small bedroom?
Yes – its footprint is 120 × 120 cm and it narrows towards the top, so a corner works well even in a small room.
How long does it take to set up?
Under 5 minutes, with no tools.
